Celebrate Juneteenth | Free to Be

Free to Be — Celebrating Freedom with the Black Community. Everyone is welcome and invited to join us in celebrating Juneteenth on Saturday, June 19, 1 – 3:30 p.m. at North River Hills Park. Juneteenth, also know as Freedom Day, is a festival held annually on the nineteenth of June to commemorate emancipation from slavery on that day in 1865. There will be guest speakers of books and poetry, crafts, entertainment by Tropics Steel Drum Band, a dance party led by line dance leader Teresa Hart-Sandifer, music by U.P.G. choir and food available for purchase from Jersey Mike’s. Partners for this event include Dakota County Library, Spirit of Truth Church, ISD 191 and the Burnsville YMCA.
