Summertime in Minnesota is here – which brings warmer weather and longer days. Luckily, the Relief Sessions Summer Concert Series is here for you and the whole family to enjoy the warm weather while appreciating local artists. The concert series will take place every day from August 27th through September 7th, 2020. This may not be your typical concert series, but to comply with proper social distancing guidelines, the show will be held in a drive-in setting. The drive-in concert series will take place in the parking lot of the Burnsville Ice Center (251 Civic Center Dr).

Safety Precautions

Enjoy the live-show from the comfort of your own car. Don’t worry, you don’t have to stay in your car! If your car gets too crowded, you can bring a chair and sit outside right by it. To ensure the safety of attendees, employees and entertainers, concert-goers must be inside a vehicle upon arrival of the venue. Social distancing will be enforced during the concerts.

Make sure to follow guidelines as described here to adhere to social distancing guidelines to ensure safety of all concert-goers and staff!

Food & Refreshments

Although this is not your typical concert series, concessions such as food and drink are still going to be available!  Each week at the drive-in concert will have a food truck on site. You will be given a menu during admission into the drive-in concert of items available at the food truck. Ordering from the food truck is as easy as:

  • Pick up your phone — call or text the number listed on the menu
  • Order your food and drinks
  • Pay over the phone
  • Your food will be delivered to your parking space!

Viewing & Admission

With the drive-in concert style, rest assured that the venue will have a large LED Screen near the stage that provides a great view from any parking spot! To ensure prime-viewing remember you can bring your own chair to sit on next to your car.

Admission into the Relief Sessions will open one hour before the show. Enter on Civic Center Drive off of Nicollet Avenue to be directed to the entrance.


You don’t have to give up comfort and affordability when staying in Burnsville. The hotels here offer a variety of restful accommodations at reasonable prices. This concert series will present 48 extremely talented musical acts that will encompass multiple genres and appeal to people of all ages. The music will begin at noon each day and continue through 8:45 p.m., allowing them to present 4-5 different shows each day! You’ll hear a wide range of music from musicians such as:

  • Ginger Commodore and Debbie Duncan, in a show called ‘Aretha – Soul of a Queen’. The show is a compilation of Aretha’s hits. The songs that launched her into America’s heart. Songs you sing along to because they have reached your soul. 
  • Steeling Dan, a band specializing in the music of Steely Dan and Donald Fagen.
  • The Andrew Walesch Big Band, a 10 piece band paying tribute to Sinatra.
  • GB Leighton, a band with more than a 20,000-fan base on Facebook – known for their country style music that ensures audiences will get up and dance.
  • and many more!
